Quick Takeaways
  • Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA integrates Momenta Urban Pilot system to enhance urban and highway intelligent driving.
  • The system delivers high parking success, advanced reversing assistance, and scalable AI-based driving functions.
On February 2, Momenta announced that the Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA utilizes the Urban Pilot system, marking a major step in the brand’s intelligent mobility strategy. The Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA leverages end-to-end large AI models trained on massive volumes of real-world Chinese road data to deliver consistent performance in dense urban environments.

Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA Urban Pilot capabilities

The Urban Pilot system enables the Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA to navigate complex intersections, narrow passages, and dynamic hazards with higher confidence. By learning from diverse traffic patterns and real driving behavior, the system adapts to unpredictable urban scenarios while maintaining smooth vehicle control and safety-focused decision-making.

End-to-end AI trained on real-world data

The Urban Pilot technology relies on large-scale AI models developed using extensive Chinese road data. This approach allows the Mercedes-Benz all-electric CLA to interpret real traffic complexity rather than predefined scenarios, supporting more natural driving responses in crowded city conditions and mixed traffic flows.

Advanced parking and reversing functions

The co-created “all-in-one” parking package has achieved a 98% success rate, highlighting the maturity of the system. The Tracked Reverse feature allows drivers to undo a wrong turn into a dead end with a single command. The vehicle can autonomously reverse while avoiding obstacles on paths up to 0.8 meters wider than the vehicle itself.

Future intelligent driving roadmap

In 2026, Mercedes-Benz will further improve its intelligent driving system by introducing the new Momenta R6 technology. This upgrade is designed to assist drivers both in cities and on highways, expanding the availability of advanced driver assistance across a wider range of models. The enhanced technology will be deployed in additional vehicles, including the new electric GLC SUV. Mercedes-Benz will also introduce new features such as Memory Parking, enabling the vehicle to remember frequently used parking locations and execute parking maneuvers autonomously, reinforcing the brand’s long-term focus on scalable, AI-driven mobility solutions.
