Quick Takeaways
- Spain electric mobility aid program targets faster EV adoption among self-employed workers and small businesses.
- Fresh funding under Spain’s recovery framework strengthens industrial decarbonization and clean mobility investments.
On February 5, Spain electric mobility aid program was officially introduced by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, marking a new push to accelerate electric vehicle adoption among self-employed professionals and small enterprises. The initiative is backed by a EUR 40 million budget and focuses on easing the cost barrier for businesses transitioning to cleaner mobility solutions.
Support for Small Businesses and Self-Employed Professionals
Under the Spain electric mobility aid program, companies with fewer than 10 employees, along with self-employed workers, can access direct financial assistance for electric vehicle purchases. Eligible applicants may receive grants of up to EUR 7,500 per vehicle, making electric mobility more accessible for daily commercial and professional use. The scheme is designed to encourage faster fleet renewal while aligning business mobility needs with national decarbonization goals. By targeting smaller enterprises, the program aims to ensure that the shift toward electric vehicles is not limited to large corporations but extends across the broader economy.Industrial Decarbonization Through PERTE Funding
Alongside electric mobility incentives, the government confirmed the opening of the second call for proposals under Line 1 of the PERTE program for Industrial Decarbonization. This round will be supported by a substantial EUR 330 million allocation, reinforcing Spain’s commitment to lowering industrial emissions.Strategic Investment in Future-Focused Sectors
The PERTE framework channels funding into sectors considered critical for long-term competitiveness. These include clean energy, automotive manufacturing, gigafactories, and renewable hydrogen. The new call is expected to further stimulate investment in low-carbon technologies and strengthen Spain’s industrial base. From 2021 through the end of the Recovery Plan period, Spain is set to receive more than EUR 100 billion in total funding. Nearly one-quarter of this amount has already been deployed through strategic PERTE projects, supporting the transformation of key industries while advancing national climate and sustainability objectives.
