Nissan Aguascalientes Plant Hiring Boosts NP300 Production Capacity

On January 30, it was reported that the Nissan Aguascalientes plant increased its workforce by more than 700 employees, reflecting a strategic move to scale up manufacturing capacity in Mexico. The hiring initiative aligns with rising production requirements and reinforces the plant’s role within Nissan’s regional manufacturing network.

The new hiring drive is intended to meet production demand resulting from the absorption of operations from the CIVAC plant, with the transition scheduled to begin in April. This operational shift positions the Aguascalientes facility as a key hub for selected vehicle lines.

Focus on NP300 pickup manufacturing

The additional workforce will be dedicated to producing the NP300 pickup, also marketed as the Frontier. Concentrating resources on this model is expected to improve production efficiency and ensure a smooth ramp-up as volumes increase to meet market demand.

Employment impact and workforce transition approach

While the more than 700 new roles represent direct employment, the expansion is also anticipated to create indirect jobs across the automotive supply chain, supporting suppliers and logistics partners linked to the plant’s operations.
Union representatives noted that a large-scale transfer of workers from the CIVAC plant in Morelos is not expected. However, they confirmed that some specialized personnel will be incorporated into key positions to ensure a successful start of production and maintain operational continuity during the transition.
