Growth momentum in January was largely driven by Chinese car brands, which continued to expand their footprint across Mexico. Several manufacturers recorded sharp year-on-year gains, reflecting increased consumer acceptance and broader dealership coverage.

Top-performing Chinese Automakers

  • Geely recorded a 245.3% increase in sales, reaching 3,356 units
  • Jetour posted growth of 218% with deliveries of 455 vehicles
  • Changan sales rose 89.8% to 1,568 units
  • MG Motor increased volumes by 55%, selling 6,198 units

The strong performance of Chinese car brands in Mexico contributed significantly to overall market expansion and intensified competition across multiple vehicle segments.

Mixed Performance Among Established Global Automakers

Despite growing competition, Nissan retained its position as the best-selling brand in Mexico. The automaker delivered 24,695 vehicles in January, representing a 21.8% increase compared with the previous year.
Sales performance among other major manufacturers varied:
  • Volkswagen Group sold 14,126 units, down 5.0% year-on-year
  • General Motors delivered 16,339 vehicles, up 3.9%
  • Ford sales declined 5.2% to 4,017 units
  • Stellantis recorded growth of 14.8%, reaching 8,106 units

Japanese and Korean brands also posted steady gains in Mexico car sales. Toyota sold 11,669 units, an increase of 6.3%, while Honda recorded a 17.5% rise to 4,038 units. Mazda deliveries climbed 11.1% to 8,704 vehicles.
Korean automakers maintained stable growth, with Kia sales rising 5.0% to 9,032 units and Hyundai increasing deliveries by 3.7% to 4,125 units, reinforcing their position in the competitive Mexico auto market.
