Hyundai EV components manufacturing expands as TS Automotive invests in South Korea

Several South Korean media sources reported that Hyundai EV components manufacturing will see a notable boost as TS Automotive Co., Ltd. moves forward with an expansion of its production facility in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The company plans to strengthen its role in the electric vehicle supply chain by adding new manufacturing capabilities aligned with Hyundai Motor’s growing EV strategy.

TS Automotive investment and plant expansion details

TS Automotive plans to invest KRW 35.2 billion to establish an additional production line at its Gyeongju plant. The new facilities are scheduled to be completed by September 2028 and will focus on the production of key automotive body components.

Components and production scope

The expanded Hyundai EV components manufacturing setup will include front-end panels, rear under bodies, and other structural parts. These components are essential for vehicle safety, rigidity, and integration of electric powertrain systems, making them critical to next-generation EV platforms.

Supply focus on Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles

The newly produced body parts will be supplied for the Hyundai Kona as well as Genesis-brand electric vehicles, including the GV70, G80, and GV80. This move directly supports Hyundai Motor’s broader expansion of its electric vehicle lineup, ensuring stable local sourcing of high-value EV components while reinforcing South Korea’s position in the global EV manufacturing ecosystem.
