Quick Takeaways
- Porsche Cayenne Electric enters series production with record-breaking performance and long-range capability.
- Battery modules are developed and produced in-house to ensure quality and performance control.
On February 2, Porsche announced the start of series production of the Porsche Cayenne Electric at its Bratislava facility, where it is manufactured alongside combustion-engine and hybrid variants. This approach highlights Porsche’s flexible production strategy as it scales electric SUV production without disrupting existing model lines.
Porsche Cayenne Electric performance and range highlights
The flagship Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers an output of up to 850 kW (1,156 hp), making it the most powerful production model ever built by Porsche. This positions the Porsche Cayenne Electric at the top of the performance SUV segment while maintaining everyday usability. The electric SUV is equipped with a 113 kWh high-energy-density battery, enabling a driving range of more than 600 km. A double-sided cooling system ensures optimal temperature management, supporting consistent performance and long-term battery durability under varying driving conditions.In-house battery development and manufacturing process
Battery modules for the Porsche Cayenne Electric are fully developed by Porsche and produced at the Porsche Smart Battery Shop in Horná Streda, approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Bratislava. This in-house strategy allows tighter integration between vehicle development and battery technology.Precision-controlled battery module production
The manufacturing process follows a precisely controlled sequence that includes cell preparation, stacking, laser welding, foaming, cold plate integration, and comprehensive end-of-line testing. Each step is monitored under complete quality control to ensure consistent performance and safety standards across all modules.Bratislava multi-brand production site expansion
The Porsche Cayenne Electric is assembled at the expanded multi-brand production site in the Devínska Nová Ves district of Bratislava. A newly constructed hall at the facility is dedicated to assembling the chassis and body components of the electric SUV. This expansion supports higher production volumes and underlines the strategic importance of the Bratislava plant in the Volkswagen Group’s electrification roadmap, while enabling Porsche to bring the Cayenne Electric to market efficiently without compromising build quality.
