Quick Takeaways
  • Thailand EV workforce development is being strengthened through new AI and EV-focused academic-industry collaborations.
  • The initiative combines hands-on AI literacy with practice-based EV industry training to build future-ready talent.
On January 29, 2026, Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) announced the signing of multiple academic memoranda of understanding aimed at accelerating Thailand EV workforce development alongside applied artificial intelligence education. The initiative focuses on hands-on AI literacy for non-technical students and practice-based workforce training aligned with the rapidly evolving electric vehicle industry.

Strategic focus on EV workforce development

To advance Thailand EV workforce development, MHESI partnered with 12 organizations spanning industry and academia. The collaboration is designed to equip students and early-career professionals with practical skills required by the electric mobility sector, ensuring workforce readiness as EV adoption scales across the country.

Industry and university participation

The EV-focused MOUs involve Energy Absolute, ZEUS EV (Thailand), ASEFA PLC, Nissan Motor (Thailand), and MG Sales (Thailand), alongside leading academic institutions. Participating universities include King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, Assumption University, and Srinakharinwirot University.

Practice-based training approach

The program emphasizes real-world exposure through industry-linked training models. By integrating classroom learning with applied projects, the initiative aims to create job-ready talent capable of supporting manufacturing, operations, and innovation within Thailand’s expanding EV ecosystem.

Expanding AI literacy for non-technical students

Alongside Thailand EV workforce development, MHESI is strengthening AI education through a separate set of MOUs focused on practical AI literacy. These programs target non-technical learners, enabling broader participation in digital transformation across industries.

Technology partners supporting AI education

For the AI curriculum, MHESI partnered with eight organizations, including Huawei (Thailand), Alibaba Cloud (Thailand), Com7, Dahua Technology (Thailand), the Thai IoT Association, Intel Semiconductor (U.S.), the Food Institute, and Srinakharinwirot University.

Building future-ready human capital

By combining AI literacy with EV industry training, the initiative reflects a coordinated public-private-university collaboration model. This integrated approach is expected to strengthen Thailand’s human capital base, support innovation, and enhance competitiveness as the country positions itself as a regional hub for electric mobility and advanced technologies.
