Quick Takeaways
  • Ultra-fast EV charging station boosts charging infrastructure for heavy-duty trucks in Hainan.
  • The facility integrates solar power, energy storage, and high-power charging with future expansion plans.
On January 29, the People’s Government of Hainan Province announced the commissioning of an ultra-fast EV charging station integrating photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, and charging facilities in Baimajing Town, Danzhou. With an installed power capacity of 8,000kW, the facility has become Hainan’s largest charging station dedicated to new energy heavy-duty trucks, strengthening regional EV charging infrastructure.

Large-Scale Charging Capacity for Heavy-Duty Trucks

The ultra-fast EV charging station is equipped with 40 high-power charging terminal devices, enabling it to charge up to 20 heavy-duty trucks simultaneously at full power. Designed for high utilization, the station can serve as many as 200 vehicles per day, supporting the growing adoption of new energy trucks in logistics and industrial transport.

Integrated Renewable Energy and Storage Technology

Solar Power and Intelligent Energy Storage

A key feature of the ultra-fast EV charging station is the integration of photovoltaic power generation with intelligent energy storage systems. This configuration allows solar energy to be stored and efficiently deployed during peak charging demand, improving energy efficiency while reducing reliance on the grid.

High-Power Ultra-Fast Charging System

The charging infrastructure combines renewable energy input with high-power ultra-fast charging technology, ensuring reduced charging times for heavy-duty trucks. This setup supports continuous fleet operations and enhances the practicality of electric HDTs for commercial use.

Planned Expansion and Demonstration Capabilities

According to the development plan, the station will receive an additional investment of approximately CNY 17 million. The expansion will transform the facility into a demonstration charging station integrating ultra-fast charging, battery swapping, and photovoltaic energy storage operations under one platform. Once fully expanded, the ultra-fast EV charging station is expected to reach a total installed power capacity of 12,000kW. The estimated annual charging capacity will increase to 35.76 million kWh, representing more than three times the current level and marking a significant step forward in China’s heavy-duty EV charging ecosystem.
