Quick Takeaways
  • Grab EV charging network Thailand expands with a SHARGE partnership to support ride-hailing electrification.
  • Over THB 400 million will be invested to deploy fast EV chargers at high-demand locations across Thailand.
On January 29, 2026, SHARGE announced a strategic partnership with Grab Thailand to develop a dedicated EV charging network exclusively for Grab drivers, strengthening the shift toward e-mobility in Thailand’s ride-hailing sector. The collaboration focuses on addressing charging accessibility and operating costs as electric vehicles gain traction among professional drivers.

Strategic investment to scale EV charging for ride-hailing

The partnership outlines an investment exceeding THB 400 million to establish 40 EV charging stations across Thailand by 2027. This rollout is designed specifically around the needs of ride-hailing operations, ensuring reliable, fast, and cost-effective charging access for Grab’s growing EV driver base. Each charging location will be purpose-built for high utilization, helping drivers reduce downtime while supporting nationwide electrification goals. The initiative also reflects rising demand for structured charging infrastructure tailored to commercial mobility use cases.

Pilot deployment at high-traffic locations

The initial phase will begin with three high-usage pilot stations located at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, and Pattaya. These sites were selected due to consistently high ride demand and vehicle turnaround requirements, making them critical nodes for early deployment. The pilot stations will be equipped with fast chargers capable of replenishing EVs in approximately 20 minutes. Preferential pricing has been set at THB 6 per kWh for Grab drivers, directly supporting lower operating costs and faster route re-entry.

High-capacity stations designed for nationwide expansion

Each charging station will house 12 chargers and is engineered to support more than 700 charging sessions per day. The infrastructure will be compatible with all four-wheel EV brands, ensuring broad usability and future scalability as vehicle diversity increases. By easing charging constraints and improving cost efficiency, the SHARGE–Grab collaboration is expected to accelerate EV adoption among ride-hailing drivers. As Grab’s electric fleet continues to expand nationwide, the dedicated network aims to provide a stable backbone for sustainable, high-volume urban mobility in Thailand.
