On January 29, Toyota UK announced the launch of the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial, introducing a new diesel 48V mild-hybrid powertrain aimed at improving efficiency while retaining the model’s established durability and off-road capability for commercial users.
48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain enhances efficiency
The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial is equipped with a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine paired with an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission and a 48V mild-hybrid system. The electrified setup integrates an electric motor-generator, a lithium-ion hybrid battery and a DC-DC converter.
This configuration enables energy recovery during deceleration and provides additional assistance during acceleration. The system delivers up to 12 kW of supplementary power and 65 Nm of torque at start-off, while also supporting faster and quieter stop-start operation in urban and mixed driving conditions.
UK-specific commercial conversion and load space
The model is offered exclusively as a five-door, long wheelbase commercial vehicle converted in the UK. The conversion process involves removing the rear seats and installing interior steel panels along with a full-height metal bulkhead featuring a mesh upper section.
Cargo capacity reaches up to 2,000 litres, making the vehicle suitable for demanding commercial applications. The load area dimensions extend up to 990 mm in height, 1,685 mm in length and 1,286 mm in width, supporting a wide range of tools and equipment.
Safety and driver assistance for mixed-use conditions
Standard safety equipment includes Toyota Safety Sense, which combines multiple active safety and driver assistance technologies. These systems are designed to help prevent accidents and improve driver awareness during both on-road driving and off-road operation, aligning with the Land Cruiser’s dual-purpose role.
Production, availability and pricing
The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial is produced at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Burnaston plant in Derbyshire. The vehicle is already available to order, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin from June 2026.
Pricing for commercial customers starts at GBP 54,425 on the road, while the price including VAT is set at GBP 65,230.
