Toyota Motor Corporation reported Toyota global sales 2025 at a record level, marking a clear turnaround after two years of slower momentum. The company’s worldwide unit sales increased 3.7% year-over-year to 10,536,807 vehicles, crossing the 10-million mark for the third consecutive year and setting a new annual high.
A key driver behind Toyota global sales 2025 was the growing contribution of electrified vehicles. The share of electrified models within total global sales climbed to a record 47.4%, remaining above 40% for the second straight year and underlining the company’s steady transition toward low-emission mobility.
Toyota global sales 2025 driven by overseas markets
Sales outside Japan continued to play a central role in overall performance. Toyota’s overseas unit sales rose 3.6% year-over-year to a record 9,035,544 vehicles, highlighting resilient demand across major international markets despite mixed economic conditions.
On the manufacturing side, global production increased 4.5% year-over-year to 9,950,904 units, marking the first production growth in two years. Production outside Japan also expanded, rising 4.4% year-over-year to a record 6,675,276 units, reflecting improved capacity utilization and supply stability.
Monthly data showed a more mixed picture toward the end of the year. In December, Toyota’s global sales increased 2.8% year-over-year to 930,459 units, while global production declined slightly by 0.5% year-over-year to 767,085 units, indicating cautious production adjustments.
Lexus performance strengthens overall results
The Lexus brand delivered another strong year alongside Toyota global sales 2025. Global Lexus unit sales increased 3.6% year-over-year to a record 882,231 vehicles, reinforcing the brand’s premium market position.
North America remained a major growth engine for Lexus, with sales rising 7.5% year-over-year to a record 408,070 units. This performance was supported by strong demand for core models such as the Lexus RX, NX, and TX. Lexus also recorded year-over-year sales growth in Japan and China, contributing to its global expansion momentum.
Overall, Toyota global sales 2025 highlight a combination of record volumes, a rising electrified vehicle mix, and solid brand performance across regions, positioning the group for continued competitiveness in a rapidly evolving automotive market.
