Quick Takeaways
  • Guwahati Urban Digital Twin project marks Genesys International’s entry into Assam with a ₹13 crore smart city initiative.
  • The project strengthens India’s adoption of data-driven urban planning through advanced geospatial platforms.
Genesys International Corporation was awarded the Guwahati Urban Digital Twin project, marking its first engagement in Assam and further expanding its footprint across India. The project, valued at approximately ₹13 crore, will deploy a geospatial-enabled digital platform designed to support city authorities in planning, monitoring, and informed decision-making.
The Guwahati Urban Digital Twin platform will integrate city maps, physical infrastructure, and civic assets into a unified digital environment. This consolidated spatial view is intended to improve how urban systems are visualised, managed, and analysed, enabling authorities to respond more effectively to evolving city requirements.
Guwahati Urban Digital Twin to Enable Integrated City Management
With this project, Guwahati joins a growing group of Indian cities adopting digital twin-based governance models. The platform enables municipal teams to move beyond siloed datasets by bringing together multiple layers of urban information on a single, reliable spatial foundation.
The digital twin approach supports better coordination across departments, improves situational awareness, and allows planners to simulate scenarios before executing infrastructure or policy decisions. This capability is increasingly seen as essential for managing complex urban environments.
Project Builds on Proven Digital Twin Deployments
The Guwahati initiative follows Genesys International’s earlier work in Varanasi, where the Varanasi Smart City project received the SKOCH Award for its application of digital twin-based urban governance. That recognition highlighted the role of spatial intelligence in improving city-level decision-making and service delivery.
Commenting on the new project, Sajid Malik, Chairman & Managing Director, Genesys International Corporation, said:
"The Guwahati Urban Digital Twin project is a significant step in our journey of enabling data-led urban transformation across India. Cities today require integrated digital ecosystems that bring together planning, infrastructure, and governance on a single, reliable spatial foundation. Our platform empowers city administrations to move from reactive management to predictive and informed decision-making. This project also aligns strongly with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of a developed nation, where technology acts as a core enabler of sustainable and inclusive urban growth."
The project aims to strengthen Guwahati’s transition toward a data-driven approach to urban planning and governance, reinforcing the city’s focus on technology-led development and long-term sustainability.
