Quick Takeaways
  • 2027 Hyundai Creta spy shots indicate a major design and platform shift ahead of its planned launch.
  • The next-generation model is expected to be larger, more angular, and hybrid-ready.
The first spy shots of the 2027 Hyundai Creta have surfaced online, offering an early look at Hyundai’s next-generation midsize SUV. As reported earlier, Hyundai has been preparing the new Creta for a 2027 debut, and the latest test mule signals a clear shift in design direction and underlying architecture.
2027 Hyundai Creta design points to larger, boxier proportions
Despite heavy camouflage, the next-gen Creta clearly moves away from the rounded styling of the current model. The SUV adopts a boxier, squatter stance and appears larger overall, suggesting a focus on stronger road presence and improved interior space.
Key visual observations from the test mule include:
  • Upright front fascia with a steeply raked windscreen
  • Minimal front and rear overhangs to maximise wheelbase
  • Angular and squared-off glass area similar in approach to newer rivals

From the side, the prototype rides on 18-inch wheels, reinforcing the impression of increased size. Interestingly, the rear alloy wheels feature the same design seen on the 17-inch units offered on the new Seltos HTK trim. At the rear, camouflage hints at a prominent roof spoiler and a slightly raked roofline, though finer details remain concealed.
Next gen Hyundai Creta to move to K3 platform with familiar engines
Mirroring developments seen in its sibling models, the 2027 Hyundai Creta is expected to transition to the newer and safer K3 platform. This architecture not only improves structural rigidity and safety but also opens the door for electrified powertrains.
Engine options are likely to be carried over from the current Creta lineup, including:
  • 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol
  • 116hp 1.5-litre diesel
  • 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol

Transmission choices are expected to remain familiar as well. A 6-speed manual will be standard across engines, while the petrol may offer a CVT, the diesel a 6-speed automatic, and the turbo-petrol a 7-speed DCT.
Crucially, the shift to the K3 platform will also enable the introduction of a strong hybrid powertrain using the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This hybrid setup is already confirmed for the Seltos in 2027 and is expected to play a key role in improving efficiency and reducing emissions for the next-gen Creta.
With larger dimensions, a more upright design, and hybrid capability on the horizon, the 2027 Hyundai Creta appears set to take a significant step forward in both presence and technology while retaining the proven mechanical options that have defined its success.
