On January 28, Ford confirmed significant updates to its Ford electric SUVs, introducing a lithium iron phosphate battery option and an improved electric motor for the Explorer and Capri Standard Range variants. The move is aimed at improving value, durability, and real-world driving range without altering vehicle positioning.
Extended Range for Explorer and Capri Standard Range
The updated powertrain delivers up to 70 km of additional range. The Explorer Standard Range now offers up to 444 km on a full charge, while the Capri Standard Range achieves up to 464 km, strengthening Ford electric SUVs in the competitive midsize EV segment.
Performance Gains with Enhanced Electric Motor
The upgraded motor increases output to 190 PS and 350 Nm of torque. As a result, both models accelerate from 0–100 kmph in 8.0 seconds, balancing improved performance with efficiency for daily driving needs.
