Quick Takeaways
  • Avatr 07 production moves into right-hand-drive configuration for Thailand expansion
  • Thailand becomes a strategic overseas EV market for Avatr Technology
Avatr Technology has completed production of its first batch of right-hand-drive Avatr 07 sport utility vehicles, marking a key step in its overseas growth strategy. The vehicles were manufactured at the company’s Chongqing facility and are now being prepared for shipment to Thailand, a market that uses right-hand-drive vehicles.
The update was shared by Avatr on Weibo on Wednesday, confirming that the Avatr 07 units are among the first right-hand-drive models produced by the brand. This development highlights Avatr’s readiness to adapt its product lineup beyond China, which is predominantly a left-hand-drive market.
Thailand strengthens Avatr’s overseas EV strategy
Avatr officially entered the Thai market in September 2024, introducing the Avatr 11 SUV as its debut model in the country. The move marked the company’s first major step into Southeast Asia, a region seeing rapid growth in electric vehicle adoption.
In November 2024, Avatr expanded its local presence by opening its first showroom in Thailand. During the same month, the company delivered the Avatr 11 SUV to more than 100 early customers, signaling strong initial demand and brand acceptance in the market.
Avatr 07 expands product portfolio beyond China
The Avatr 07 was launched in China in September 2024 as the brand’s first model to offer both battery electric vehicle and extended-range electric vehicle variants. This dual-powertrain strategy allows Avatr to address a broader range of customer needs, particularly in markets where charging infrastructure is still developing.
Last September, Avatr introduced the 2026 model year Avatr 07 in China. The model currently carries a starting price of RMB 219,900, equivalent to approximately $31,660, positioning it competitively within the premium electric SUV segment.
Market showcase and global ambitions
Two months after its China launch, Avatr showcased the Avatr 07 in Thailand in November, signaling its intention to broaden the model’s international footprint. The start of right-hand-drive production now aligns the vehicle with regulatory and driving requirements in Thailand and other similar markets.
Toward the end of November, Avatr submitted its initial public offering application in Hong Kong. The company has indicated that the listing is expected to be completed in the second quarter, a move that could further support its global expansion and product rollout plans.
