Quick Takeaways
  • Novolyte Technology battery electrolyte plant strengthens Southeast Asia’s EV battery supply chain.
  • The project supports Malaysia’s advanced manufacturing and clean energy ambitions.
On January 19, 2026, Novolyte Technology Sdn. Bhd. announced the start of construction of a new battery electrolyte manufacturing facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah. The project marks a strategic expansion of the Novolyte Technology battery electrolyte plant footprint in Southeast Asia, reinforcing Malaysia’s position in advanced battery materials production.
Novolyte Technology Sdn. Bhd. operates as a subsidiary of Shenzhen Capchem Technology Co. Ltd. a China-based manufacturer specializing in battery chemicals and electronic materials. The company serves multiple applications, including new energy vehicles, consumer electronics, and industrial segments, with a growing focus on the EV battery supply chain.
The new facility is scheduled for commissioning in Q3 2026 and is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of approximately 30,000 metric tons. Output from the plant will cater to domestic demand while supporting the wider Southeast Asia battery market, addressing rising requirements for lithium battery materials across the region.
Aligned with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the investment is expected to create high-value employment opportunities, strengthen the regional battery electrolyte manufacturing ecosystem, and contribute to the clean energy transition. The development also builds on Novolyte’s existing Kulim operation, Plant 1, which was the first among Chinese electrolyte suppliers to successfully deliver orders in Southeast Asia.
