FAW Hongqi All-Solid-State Battery Reaches Vehicle Testing Milestone

On January 21, the Jilin Provincial People’s Government announced the successful roll-off of the first prototype vehicle equipped with the FAW Hongqi all-solid-state battery developed entirely in-house. This development marks FAW Group’s official entry into the real vehicle testing stage for all-solid-state battery technology, signaling progress toward future commercialization.

The prototype development program spanned 470 days and delivered phased breakthroughs across multiple critical technical stages. Central to this progress was the validation of 66Ah solid-state battery cells, which successfully passed extreme thermal abuse testing, reinforcing safety and stability benchmarks under demanding conditions.
Solid-state battery performance exceeds industry benchmarks
The FAW Hongqi all-solid-state battery demonstrated sulfide electrolyte ionic conductivity exceeding 10mS/cm, surpassing widely recognized industry thresholds. This performance highlights meaningful advances in energy transport efficiency, positioning FAW Group competitively within the global solid-state battery development landscape.
