Quick Takeaways
  • BMW 2026 iX1 electric SUV launched with updated equipment and competitive pricing.
  • BMW strengthens its position in the luxury electric compact SUV segment with the refreshed iX1.
On January 21, BMW officially introduced the BMW 2026 iX1 electric SUV, expanding its all-electric compact SUV portfolio. The refreshed model is offered in four variants, with guide prices ranging between CNY 228,000 and CNY 268,000, reinforcing BMW’s focus on feature-led updates rather than a full redesign.
As part of its annual update cycle, the BMW 2026 iX1 electric SUV continues with the brand’s established design identity while concentrating improvements on technology and equipment. The exterior remains largely unchanged, maintaining the closed kidney grille finished with diamond-style detailing and chrome surrounds that clearly signal its electric positioning.
From the side, the SUV carries forward clean body surfacing, semi-retractable door handles, and multiple alloy wheel options. At the rear, the familiar L-shaped taillamps integrate seamlessly with the bumper design, enhancing visual continuity and brand recognition.
BMW continues to offer X Line and M Sport trims, alongside exterior color choices such as Skyscraper Grey and Starry Blue. Dimensionally, the five-seat electric SUV measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, and 1,641 mm in height, supported by a 2,802 mm wheelbase that balances interior space with urban-friendly proportions.
Inside the cabin, the BMW 2026 iX1 electric SUV offers multiple interior color themes and a modern dual-display layout. This setup combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.7-inch central touchscreen, both powered by the latest BMW iDrive 9 operating system for improved usability and responsiveness.
Equipment enhancements form the core of this update. BMW has made 5G connectivity standard across all variants, improving navigation, infotainment, and connected services. Standard driver-assistance features now include front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, lane-keeping assist, lane-change assist, and Reversing Assistant, strengthening everyday safety and convenience.
Two electric powertrain configurations are available for buyers. The eDrive25L uses a front-mounted single motor producing 204 horsepower (150 kW) and 250 Nm of torque, delivering a CLTC-certified driving range of up to 510 km.
The xDrive30L variant adopts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout, generating a combined output of 313 horsepower (230 kW) and 494 Nm of torque. This version offers a CLTC range of 450 km. Both variants are equipped with a 66.5 kWh ternary lithium battery pack.
Positioned as the electric alternative to the BMW X1, the BMW 2026 iX1 electric SUV competes in a highly contested luxury electric compact SUV segment, facing rivals such as the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Mercedes-Benz EQA as competition in key global markets.
