On January 20, BYD Argentina EV launch plans were confirmed following the arrival of the BYD Changzhou vessel at the Zárate terminal, marking a key step in the company’s regional expansion strategy and signaling the introduction of multiple new electrified vehicles into the local market.
BYD announced that the Atto 2 DM-i plug-in hybrid SUV will be officially introduced on February 18. The model delivers an electric-only driving range of up to 110 km and offers a combined total range of approximately 1,100 km, positioning it as a long-range solution for urban and extended driving needs.
Reservations for the Atto 2 DM-i are already open in Argentina, reflecting early demand for plug-in hybrid technology as consumers seek vehicles that balance electric mobility with extended range capability. The model strengthens BYD’s presence in the growing electrified SUV segment.
BYD Argentina EV Launch Portfolio Expansion Plans
As part of the broader BYD Argentina EV launch roadmap, the company also confirmed plans to introduce the Shark pickup truck in 2026. While no units of the Shark were included in the most recent shipment, the announcement highlights BYD’s intention to enter the electrified pickup segment in the region.
Future Models and Regional Production Strategy
BYD further stated that three additional models are scheduled to launch in Argentina before the end of the year, expanding its electrified lineup and reinforcing its commitment to the local market.
Regarding vehicles manufactured in Brazil, BYD noted that availability in Argentina will depend on the start of local production and compliance with Mercosur regulations, particularly requirements related to regional content levels.
