Volvo has revealed the Volvo EX60 electric SUV for the European market, marking the brand’s entry into the luxury electric midsize SUV category. Built on Volvo’s new EV-dedicated SPA3 platform, the EX60 serves as the electric alternative to the ICE-powered XC60 and will be introduced in the US at a later stage.
The Volvo EX60 electric SUV is offered with three battery configurations—83kWh, 95kWh, and 117kWh—delivering a balance of performance, range, and efficiency. A key safety highlight is the adaptive seatbelt system, which adjusts belt tension based on vehicle speed and crash direction to enhance occupant protection.
Volvo EX60 Electric SUV Exterior Design Highlights
Visually, the EX60 adopts a design language similar to a larger EX30, featuring a split headlamp arrangement with signature ‘Thor’s hammer’ LED daytime running lights. LED headlamps are positioned on either side of the bumper, while the closed-off grille reinforces its electric identity. A black scuff plate adds a rugged touch to the lower bumper.
The side profile is defined by clean surfacing, subtle character lines across the wheel arches and doors, and sculpted creases with black lower-door cladding. Illuminated wing grip door handles replace conventional handles and sit along the window line. Alloy wheel options range from 20 to 22 inches, with wider rear tyres enhancing traction.
At the rear, slim LED tail-lamps are paired with a black strip across the tailgate and robust black cladding. A thin silver accent on the rear bumper completes the look. Buyers can choose between Bright and Dark exterior themes, differentiated by silver or black trim elements on the sills and bumpers.
The Volvo EX60 electric SUV is also available in a Cross Country variant, offering 20mm additional ground clearance, stainless steel skid plates, matte black cladding, and an exclusive Frost green exterior shade. This version includes unique interior materials, Cross Country badging, and adaptive air suspension with a dedicated off-road mode.
Volvo EX60 Interior and Technology Features
Inside, the EX60 features a dual-tone, layered cabin layout with a minimalist dashboard design. The two-spoke steering wheel incorporates physical buttons and a toggle-style volume control, while a column-mounted drive selector frees up space. Storage is a key focus, with a large central glove box and multiple front console compartments.
The cabin is equipped with an 11.4-inch digital driver display and a 15-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system. Comfort and technology highlights include an electrochromic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, powered driver seat with memory, Apple CarPlay, connected car features, ADAS, OTA updates, and the Google Gemini AI assistant.
Audio duties are handled by a 21-speaker Bose system, with an option to upgrade to a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup. Rear passengers benefit from reclining seats, reinforcing the EX60’s luxury positioning.
Volvo EX60 Electric SUV Powertrain and Range
The Volvo EX60 electric SUV is offered in three trims with outputs reaching up to 680hp and 790Nm. The P6 Electric variant uses an 83kWh battery with a rear-mounted motor producing 374hp and 480Nm. The P10 AWD trim adds a front motor and a 95kWh battery, delivering a combined 510hp and 710Nm.
At the top sits the P12 AWD, which pairs a 117kWh battery with dual motors generating 680hp and 790Nm. WLTP-certified driving ranges extend up to 620km for the P6, 660km for the P10 AWD, and up to 810km for the P12 AWD.
Fast-charging capability allows the EX60 to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes using a 400kW DC fast charger, while AC charging is supported at speeds of up to 22kW.
The Volvo EX60 electric SUV will compete with models such as the BMW iX3 and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC EV. While Volvo has not confirmed plans for an Indian launch, the company is expected to introduce the EX90 and ES90 electric models in the market.
