Quick Takeaways
  • Luna Systems AI camera funding strengthens the rollout of advanced safety technology for two-wheeled mobility.
  • The investment accelerates ARAS hardware adoption across cycling and motorcycle segments.
On January 15, 2026, Luna Systems, a Dublin-based provider of AI-powered safety technology, announced it has secured €1.5 million in late seed funding to support the launch of a new range of AI camera hardware for cyclists and motorcyclists. The funding round was led by Fundracer Capital and EIT Urban Mobility, with additional backing from Enterprise Ireland.
Luna Systems specializes in Advanced Rider Assistance Systems, applying automotive-grade safety intelligence to two-wheeled vehicles. Until now, the company focused solely on Vision AI safety software. This investment enables Luna Systems to evolve into a full system provider, significantly expanding its commercial scope and product portfolio.
Luna Systems AI Camera Funding Enables New Product Launches
Luna Systems plans to introduce two core products during 2026.
  • The first is a dual AI camera system designed for integration by e-bike and motorcycle manufacturers. The system delivers real-time collision warnings, blindspot detection, and headway monitoring, bringing car-like safety capabilities to motorcycles and electric bicycles.
  • The second product marks Luna Systems’ entry into the consumer cycling segment. It is a rear-facing AI camera paired with a smartphone application, offering real-time vehicle proximity alerts, intelligent evidence recording, and post-ride incident mapping to highlight dangerous locations.
The product targets road and commuter cyclists and will be available directly and through European distributors later this year.
Market Need for ARAS in Urban Cycling
Andrew Fleury, CEO of Luna Systems, highlighted the urgency behind the technology. “Six in ten people feel too afraid to cycle in their area,” he said, noting that fear of traffic remains one of the biggest barriers to cycling adoption, particularly in dense urban environments.
Fleury added that while many regions face long timelines for cycling infrastructure improvements, ARAS technology can immediately help bridge that safety gap. He expressed confidence that such systems will become as common on bikes and motorcycles as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are becoming in cars.
Investor Focus on Vision-Based Safety Technology
Fundracer Capital is led by René Wiertz, Gerard Vroomen, and Andy Ording, founders of 3T Cycling, Cervélo, and Zipp Wheels. The firm focuses on emerging technologies that improve safety, efficiency, and innovation across cycling and mobility ecosystems.
Wiertz explained that while much cycling innovation has historically served professional riders, future growth depends on making everyday urban cycling feel safer. He noted that vision-based AI offers advantages over radar by capturing richer data, enabling better identification of hazardous infrastructure and safer route planning.
Peter Vest of EIT Urban Mobility emphasized the organization’s mission to enhance urban transport safety, while Donnchadh Cullinan of Enterprise Ireland highlighted the importance of deep-tech solutions addressing global challenges, stating pride in supporting Luna Systems’ international growth ambitions.
