North Northamptonshire EV Charging Network with Connected Kerb

On January 19, North Northamptonshire Council confirmed a strategic partnership with charge-point operator Connected Kerb to significantly scale the region’s electric vehicle charging capacity. The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition to electric mobility by delivering more than 1,500 new public EV charging sockets across North Northamptonshire.
The initiative is jointly funded by Connected Kerb and backed by GBP 2.9 million from the Government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure fund. This combined investment is designed to ensure long-term, reliable access to public charging while supporting local transport decarbonisation goals and increasing confidence among current and future EV drivers.
Expansion of the North Northamptonshire EV Charging Network with Connected Kerb
Over the next three to five years, the project will result in a threefold increase in publicly available chargepoints across the area. The existing network of around 525 charging sockets will be substantially expanded through installations at approximately 320 new locations, improving coverage and convenience for residents and visitors alike.
Planned deployment areas include:

• All 12 towns across North Northamptonshire

• More than 20 villages within the region

• At least 20 Council-owned car parks

Focus on Accessibility and Long-Term Growth
A key element of the rollout is accessibility. Council car parks included in the programme will feature fully accessible EV charging bays, ensuring inclusive infrastructure that meets the needs of all users. This approach aligns with broader national objectives to make public EV charging both equitable and widely available.
By 2030, the total number of EV charging sockets across North Northamptonshire is expected to reach at least 2,000. This sustained expansion positions the region to meet growing EV demand while reinforcing its commitment to cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions.
