Quick Takeaways
- ADNOC Distribution EV charging network to electrify UAE highways by 2027.
- The expansion aligns with national targets to accelerate electric vehicle adoption across the UAE.
On January 12, ADNOC Distribution, the UAE’s leading mobility and convenience retailer, unveiled a detailed roadmap to electrify the country’s national highway network by the end of 2027. The initiative focuses on strengthening the ADNOC Distribution EV charging network to support the rapid transition toward electric mobility.
Under the plan, the company aims to establish 20 dedicated EV charging hubs across core UAE highways by 2027. These hubs are designed to deliver comprehensive and reliable charging services, ensuring long-distance travel convenience for electric vehicle users across the country.
By the end of 2026, ADNOC Distribution expects 15 of these EV charging hubs to be operational. This phased rollout reflects the company’s intent to accelerate infrastructure availability while aligning execution with rising EV penetration and user demand on high-traffic transport corridors.
The roadmap directly supports the long-term national vision set by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The ministry has outlined a 2050 target requiring 50% of all vehicles operating on UAE roads to be battery-electric, underscoring the need for scalable and accessible charging infrastructure.
ADNOC Distribution is advancing this objective through its E2GO platform, which has emerged as one of the largest charge point operator networks in the country. The ADNOC Distribution EV charging network currently includes more than 400 installed charging points across strategic locations.
Looking ahead, the company is targeting up to 750 charging points by 2028. This expansion is intended to enhance nationwide coverage, reduce range anxiety, and support both private and commercial electric vehicle adoption.
By integrating highway charging hubs with its existing retail and mobility footprint, ADNOC Distribution is positioning its EV charging network as a critical enabler of the UAE’s electric mobility ecosystem while supporting the country’s broader sustainability and decarbonization goals.
