Quick Takeaways
  • Onvo L60 Special Edition marks a festive push by Nio’s mass-market brand ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year.
  • The model blends cultural design with Onvo’s growing electric SUV strategy in China.
On January 16, 2026, Onvo, the mass-market brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866), confirmed the launch and first deliveries of the Onvo L60 Special Edition, expanding its limited-run electric SUV lineup just weeks before the Lunar New Year celebrations begin.
The newly revealed version of the Onvo L60 Special Edition carries a distinctive horse-inspired theme. Branded as the “Ma Dao Cheng Gong” edition, the name reflects a traditional Chinese expression associated with success and smooth progress, making it a symbolic release ahead of the Year of the Horse starting on February 17, 2026.
Onvo L60 Special Edition showcased across Onvo showrooms
Display units of the Onvo L60 Special Edition have already reached multiple Onvo retail outlets, allowing customers to preview the unique design elements before deliveries start. The launch follows a similar move by Firefly, another Nio sub-brand, which introduced its own limited edition earlier the same day.
This release adds to a growing portfolio of special variants from Onvo, including:
  • Violet Edition
  • Black Knight Edition
  • Ma Dao Cheng Gong horse-themed edition

These editions are designed to keep customer interest high while reinforcing brand identity within China’s highly competitive electric SUV segment.
Onvo’s expanding electric SUV portfolio under Nio
The L60 remains a cornerstone of Onvo’s lineup. The five-seat electric SUV was first introduced on September 19, 2024, and received an updated version on September 19, 2025 to celebrate its first anniversary in the market.
Nio’s sub-brand has been rapidly broadening its product range:
  • L60 – Five-seat midsize electric SUV
  • L90 – Three-row SUV launched on July 31, with deliveries starting August 1
  • L80 – Five-seat SUV scheduled for launch later in 2026

The addition of these models signals Onvo’s intent to compete aggressively in the large and mid-size electric SUV categories.
Sales performance highlights behind the Onvo L60 Special Edition
While new models and special editions are driving attention, recent sales data shows mixed momentum. Onvo delivered 9,154 vehicles in December, reflecting a 13.05 percent decline compared with the same month last year and a 22.38 percent drop from November, based on figures released by Nio on January 1.
Despite the softer monthly numbers, the brand recorded total deliveries of 107,808 vehicles in 2025, underlining its growing presence in China’s mass-market electric vehicle space as Nio continues to position Onvo as a volume-driven brand.
