Mahindra XUV 7XO replaces the XUV700
The Mahindra XUV 7XO represents a major evolution of the XUV700, a model that has attracted more than 300,000 buyers since its launch four years ago. In the previous year alone, Mahindra sold over 80,000 units of the XUV700, helping the company surpass Hyundai and Tata Motors to become India’s second-largest carmaker.
With the arrival of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, production of the existing XUV700 will be gradually wound down. The new SUV is positioned to compete directly with premium rivals such as Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and Jeep Meridian in India’s fast-growing large-SUV category.
Mahindra XUV 7XO exterior design upgrades
Visually, the Mahindra XUV 7XO carries noticeable changes that distinguish it from its predecessor. The SUV gets redesigned LED headlamps with boomerang-style daytime running lights, a slimmer front grille, and updated tail-lamps inspired by the XEV 9S. The top variant now rides on larger 19-inch alloy wheels.
Notable exterior updates include:
  • New LED lighting signature with boomerang DRLs
  • Updated grille and rear lamp design
  • 19-inch alloy wheels on higher trims

Mahindra XUV 7XO interior and technology
Inside, the Mahindra XUV 7XO introduces a triple-screen digital layout, with three 12.3-inch displays fitted as standard across all variants. Mahindra has discontinued the MX trims, meaning every version now carries the AX badge, bringing a more premium experience across the lineup.
The cabin features a tan-coloured theme, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos. Both front seats are powered and ventilated, improving comfort for long-distance travel and daily commuting alike.
Mahindra XUV 7XO safety and ADAS
Safety remains a strong focus for the Mahindra XUV 7XO. Six airbags come as standard across the range, while the AX7T variant adds a knee airbag and an upgraded Level 2 ADAS package. The new driver-assistance system uses cameras with 3.7 times higher resolution, improving object detection and lane-keeping performance.
Key safety highlights include:
  • Six airbags standard
  • Knee airbag on AX7T trim
  • Enhanced Level 2 ADAS with higher-resolution cameras

Mahindra XUV 7XO engine and performance
The Mahindra XUV 7XO continues with familiar yet capable powertrains. Buyers can choose between a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 203 horsepower and a 2.2-litre diesel generating 185 horsepower. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Mahindra XUV 7XO ride and suspension
One of the most significant upgrades on the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the adoption of DaVinci dampers developed in collaboration with Tenneco. These dampers deliver better ride comfort through more precise tuning. Despite the larger 19-inch wheels, low-speed ride quality has improved while high-speed stability remains reassuring.
Mahindra XUV 7XO test drives now open
Test drives for the Mahindra XUV 7XO have already begun at dealerships. Customers can select their preferred dealership, fuel type and transmission while placing their booking, giving them more control over the purchase experience as the new flagship SUV reaches showrooms across India.
