Quick Takeaways
  • Algeria is now locally building JAC trucks at scale, and a major export-oriented commercial vehicle hub is being created for Africa.
  • The project blends CKD assembly, localization targets, and job creation into a single industrial growth engine.
Emin Auto JAC Motors Algeria commercial vehicle production officially commenced at the Tamazoura manufacturing site in the wilaya of Aïn Témouchent, marking a major step in Algeria’s automotive industrial development. The new facility has begun assembling JAC commercial vehicles, starting with the JAC 1040S truck.
The first locally assembled model is the JAC 1040S, which is being produced in both single-cab and double-cab variants. This light-duty truck is designed to meet regional logistics and transport requirements, supporting businesses that depend on reliable commercial vehicle platforms.

The manufacturing complex has been set up with four independent production lines, each dedicated to a specific category of commercial vehicles. This configuration allows flexible manufacturing and supports multiple vehicle types under one roof.
The plant is also structured to operate on a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) basis, enabling vehicles to be assembled from imported kits while gradually increasing local value addition. This approach supports Algeria’s industrial policy and helps build domestic automotive capabilities.
Production capacity and localization targets
With a designed annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles, the factory is positioned as one of the largest commercial vehicle hubs in the region. The operation is targeting a steady increase in local content over the coming years.
Key manufacturing and localization goals include:
  • Annual capacity of up to 100,000 commercial vehicles
  • Gradual ramp-up of CKD-based assembly operations
  • Target of 30 percent localization within four years

This strategy is expected to reduce reliance on imports while strengthening local supplier networks.
Exports and employment impact
Nearly 30 percent of the plant’s total output is planned for export to other African markets, turning the Algerian facility into a regional supply base for JAC commercial vehicles.
In addition to its industrial footprint, the project is also a significant employment generator. The factory is expected to create around 1,500 direct jobs, supporting skilled and semi-skilled workers across manufacturing, logistics, and quality operations.
By combining local assembly, export-oriented production, and long-term localization targets, Emin Auto is positioning JAC Motors to play a larger role in Africa’s growing commercial vehicle market.
