Quick Takeaways
  • Morocco’s Renault–Dacia plants are moving rapidly toward hybridised, multi-powertrain vehicle production for Europe and export markets.
  • The Casablanca and Tangier factories are being positioned as Renault Group’s most flexible manufacturing hubs outside Europe.
On January 9, the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant confirmed a major production upgrade as Renault Group’s SOMACA factory in Casablanca began assembling refreshed versions of the Dacia Sandero Streetway, Sandero Stepway, Logan, and Jogger for both local buyers and international export markets, especially across Europe.
The announcement was made by Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, highlighting how the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant continues to strengthen the country’s role as a key manufacturing hub within Renault Group’s global production network.
Powertrain strategy at the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant
The updated Dacia models coming out of the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant feature a diversified engine lineup tailored for regional demand and export requirements.
Key powertrain highlights include:
  • A diesel engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox offered only in the Moroccan market
  • The TCe 100 petrol engine available on Logan and Sandero in both manual and automatic options
  • A first-time pairing of the TCe 100 engine with a CVT transmission on the Sandero Streetway

This combination allows Renault and Dacia to address fuel efficiency, driving comfort, and regulatory needs across different markets.
Hybrid expansion for Jogger and Stepway
Electrification is becoming a bigger part of production at the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant, with new hybrid systems planned for two core models.
The Jogger seven-seat family vehicle will soon adopt the new Hybrid 155 powertrain. This system, first introduced on the Bigster, replaces the earlier Hybrid 140 and delivers improved performance and efficiency.
In addition, the Tangier facility is scheduled to begin producing the Jogger Hybrid 155 in 2026, along with the Sandero Stepway in its first-ever hybrid version, marking an important step toward electrified Dacia vehicles made in Morocco.
Updated design and in-car technology
Beyond powertrains, the refreshed models from the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant also receive visual and digital upgrades designed to enhance their competitiveness in Europe and other export markets.
Exterior improvements include:
  • A new lighting signature
  • A redesigned front grille
  • Newly styled wheel trims

Inside the cabin, drivers will find a more modern layout supported by upgraded equipment, including a 10-inch central touchscreen that improves connectivity, navigation, and infotainment functionality.
These changes reflect Dacia’s focus on delivering better perceived quality while keeping costs competitive.
Morocco’s growing role in Renault and Dacia production
With the Casablanca SOMACA plant producing multiple Dacia models and the Tangier factory preparing for hybrid assembly, the Dacia Renault Morocco Plant ecosystem is becoming one of Renault Group’s most important manufacturing bases outside Europe.
By supporting gasoline, diesel, and hybrid powertrains on the same production lines, Morocco is positioned to serve diverse markets efficiently, reinforcing its place in Renault’s long-term global industrial strategy.
