Quick Takeaways
  • Geely’s flagship SUV is now cleared to run hands-off driving across an entire mega-city, accelerating real-world AI training at scale.
  • The approval gives Zeekr access to one of China’s richest live traffic data networks, pushing Level-3 autonomy much closer to mass production.
Geely Zeekr 9X Level 3 Autonomous Driving License was officially granted by Hangzhou authorities, allowing Geely’s Zeekr 9X plug-in hybrid electric SUV equipped with the G-Pilot H9 intelligent driver assistance system to conduct Level 3 autonomous driving road tests across the entire city of Hangzhou.
The approval covers 9,224 square kilometers of urban and suburban areas, including more than 1,500 kilometers of two-way expressways and highways, marking one of the most extensive Level 3 autonomous testing permissions ever issued in China for a production-ready vehicle platform.
Geely Zeekr 9X Level 3 Autonomous Driving License Expands Testing Scope
Under the Geely Zeekr 9X Level 3 Autonomous Driving License, the automaker will be able to validate advanced autonomous driving functions in real-world conditions, including dense city traffic, complex junctions, and high-speed corridors. The Zeekr 9X is being tested using Geely’s G-Pilot H9 intelligent driving architecture.
This large-scale testing zone allows engineers to analyze performance across:
  • Urban intersections
  • Multi-lane expressways
  • Highway merging and exits
  • Traffic-dense corridors

Geely Zeekr 9X Level 3 Autonomous Driving License Unlocks Massive Data Access
One of the most strategic advantages of the Geely Zeekr 9X Level 3 Autonomous Driving License is full access to Hangzhou’s intelligent traffic network. Geely will be able to tap into traffic data generated by more than 7,000 signalized intersections across the city.
This gives the company the ability to:
  • Collect large-scale real-time traffic behavior data
  • Train autonomous driving algorithms in complex scenarios
  • Validate perception, prediction, and decision-making systems
  • Improve safety and response accuracy in real traffic

By combining vehicle sensor data with city-level infrastructure data, Geely can create one of China’s most advanced autonomous driving validation environments.
Zeekr 9X and G-Pilot H9 Move Closer to Production-Ready Autonomy
The Zeekr 9X plug-in hybrid SUV is designed as a next-generation intelligent vehicle platform, and the G-Pilot H9 system is built to support conditional autonomous driving where the vehicle can take over in specific scenarios without constant driver input.
This wide-area license allows Geely to conduct:
  • Multi-scenario validation
  • High-traffic stress testing
  • Long-distance autonomous driving trials
  • Edge-case behavior modeling

The outcome will be the creation of what Geely aims to be China’s largest and most comprehensive autonomous driving data corpus, supporting faster deployment of production-grade Level 3 driving features.
