Stellantis Jeep Cherokee and Recon 2026 production officially began at the Toluca manufacturing plant in Mexico, marking a major milestone in Jeep’s electrification strategy. The facility has started building electrified versions of the Cherokee and the all-new Recon, positioning Toluca as a core hub for the brand’s next-generation SUVs.

The Jeep Recon 2026 becomes the brand’s first fully electric off-road SUV developed from the ground up. Built on the STLA Large platform, it is designed for extreme terrain while delivering high-performance electric driving.
Key technical highlights include:

• Standard electric 4x4 drivetrain

• Select-Terrain system for multi-surface driving

• Estimated 650 hp output

• 0–100 km/h in approximately 3.7 seconds

• Estimated driving range of 402 km

Unlike previous adaptations, the Recon is engineered as a purpose-built electric off-road vehicle rather than a converted ICE model.
Jeep Cherokee 2026 brings hybrid efficiency and added space
The Jeep Cherokee 2026 enters the market as a plug-in hybrid SUV powered by a 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain producing 210 hp. It combines improved fuel efficiency with off-road-ready 4x4 performance through the Active Drive system.
Major upgrades include:

• Around 30 percent more interior and cargo space

• 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system

• Multiple Select-Terrain driving modes

• A refreshed, more rugged exterior design

Toluca plant ramps up for electrified Jeep production
Production of both models began in December with pre-production units, while full-scale manufacturing is scheduled to ramp up during the first quarter of 2026. The transformation of the Toluca facility follows a USD 1.6 billion investment announced in August 2024 to enable hybrid and electric vehicle manufacturing.
In 2025, the plant produced 130,254 vehicles, operating at roughly 46.7 percent of its installed capacity. With Stellantis Jeep Cherokee and Recon 2026 production now underway, capacity utilization is expected to rise sharply, strengthening the regional supply chain and generating additional employment as Toluca evolves into a key global hub for electrified Jeep models.
