Xpeng G9L SUV Global Debut And Pre-Sales Begin August 11

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will globally debut the Xpeng G9L SUV (sport utility vehicle) on August 11, with pre-sales opening simultaneously, moving the globally targeted flagship into its sales phase. The event is scheduled for 7:00 pm Beijing Time, equivalent to 7:00 am US Eastern Time, in Guangzhou, the headquarters of the Chinese electric vehicle maker. The G9L joins the six-seat GX in Xpeng's flagship family, with the latter having launched in May. Both vehicles use core platform technologies shared across the lineup while being aimed at different family-user requirements. Development of the G9L project began three years ago, followed by road testing across 26 countries and regions. According to Xpeng's August 7 disclosure, the vehicle underwent validation in complex road conditions and extreme environments around the world, accumulating more than 6.74 million kilometers of testing. The extensive program was intended to validate the vehicle for its globally oriented positioning.

The vehicle uses an 800-volt electrical platform capable of adding 450 km of driving range in nine minutes, according to Xpeng. It will also introduce the first major upgrade of the company's second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, delivering effective computing power of up to 2,250 TOPS. Another highlighted feature is the ability to simultaneously recline the front- and rear-row zero-gravity seats with one tap, creating a flat bed exceeding 1.8 meters without removing the headrests. Xpeng said its AI-adaptive zero-gravity seating system monitors body changes in real time and accommodates nearly 98% of global body types.

According to the filing submitted to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the vehicle measures 5,120 mm in length, has a 3,100 mm wheelbase and weighs approximately 2.72 tons in curb weight. The lineup will also include an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configuration, maintaining Xpeng's dual-powertrain approach. Meanwhile, the company's July deliveries totaled 38,027 vehicles globally, representing a 3.57% year-on-year increase but a 5.23% decline from June. During the first seven months of the year, Xpeng delivered 204,004 vehicles globally, down 12.78% year-on-year.
