According to the July 10 report released by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), total automobile sales in Vietnam, including imported vehicles sold by non-VAMA manufacturers, reached 31,104 units in June, representing a 2.7% year-over-year decline. Completely Knocked Down (CKD) vehicles accounted for 12,541 units, while Completely Built-Up (CBU) vehicles totaled 18,563 units, highlighting the continued importance of imported models in the country's automotive market.
VAMA Members Recorded Lower June Sales
Sales by the 20 VAMA member manufacturers declined 5.6% year over year to 24,356 units during June. Passenger car deliveries fell 13.2%, commercial vehicle sales decreased 2.9%, and special-purpose vehicle sales dropped sharply by 88.4%. In contrast, hybrid vehicles recorded exceptional growth, increasing 97.1% to 2,347 units. Battery electric vehicle sales remained limited at just six units during the month.
Leading Automotive Brands Performance in June
Toyota Motor Corp (excluding Lexus) maintained the leading position with 6,494 units sold, increasing 4.5% year over year and capturing a 20.9% market share. Mitsubishi Motors Corp recorded 3,158 units, down 13.8%, while Ford Motor Co sold 2,741 units, declining 34.2%. Thaco Kia delivered 2,675 units, rising 22.9%, followed by Thaco Mazda with 2,361 units, down 18.1%. Thaco Truck reported 2,173 units, decreasing 6.1%, whereas Honda Motor Co Ltd increased sales by 31.5% to 2,002 units.
