- Valeo Angers Plant Modernization advances next-generation lighting manufacturing.
- Heavy-duty headlight production capacity will significantly expand.
Valeo has entered the final phase of its modernization program at its Angers manufacturing facility in France, a long-established center specializing in automotive lighting design and production. The initiative is intended to prepare the site for manufacturing increasingly sophisticated next-generation lighting systems while supporting the company's Elevate 2028 strategic roadmap. The modernization project has been implemented between 2023 and 2026 and represents an investment exceeding EUR 45 million.
The transformation includes a comprehensive upgrade of the site's thermoplastic injection workshops through the installation of new automated injection press lines. The facility is also integrating advanced optical technologies, digital engineering tools, and artificial intelligence to enhance manufacturing efficiency, improve production quality, and accelerate product development while maintaining the technical capabilities required for future automotive lighting programs.
The upgraded Angers facility now operates with 25 injection presses, five varnishing lines, 11 assembly lines, and 181 industrial robots, creating a highly automated production environment. These manufacturing assets strengthen the site's capability to produce complex lighting systems while supporting higher productivity, improved process consistency, and advanced manufacturing operations across multiple production stages.
As part of the modernization strategy, the Angers site has been designated as Valeo's European Product & Process Competence Center for heavy-duty vehicle front headlights across the Group. This role expands the facility's responsibility for product and process expertise while supporting future development and industrialization activities for commercial vehicle lighting solutions.
Production volumes associated with heavy-duty vehicle lighting are expected to increase substantially as two major customer programs are scheduled for launch in 2027 and 2028. Following these launches, the proportion of heavy-duty vehicle-related production at the site is projected to grow from 20% to 40%, reflecting the increasing importance of this product segment within the facility's manufacturing portfolio.
