Turbokomplekt Expands Turbocharger Production in Protvino
On August 27, the Industrial Development Fund announced that Turbokomplekt had opened a new production facility for turbochargers in Protvino, Moscow Region. The Turbokomplekt turbocharger production facility is designed to manufacture turbochargers for diesel engines used in light commercial vehicles, trucks, and agricultural machinery. The project received a RUB 1.2 billion loan from the Industrial Development Fund under its Automotive Components program. Total investment in the new building reached RUB 1.8 billion, supporting expanded domestic manufacturing capacity and greater localization of turbocharger-related components.
New Equipment Raises Annual Production Capacity
The new plant is equipped with turning and milling machining centers, an electron beam welding unit, balancing machines, and a semi-automated assembly line. These production capabilities will allow Turbokomplekt to increase annual turbocharger output from 46,000 units to 90,000 units. The expansion is also intended to strengthen localized manufacturing by bringing more machining and component production activities into the facility. This includes machining housing parts, manufacturing impellers and bearings, and carrying out welding and balancing operations for rotors. The expanded production setup therefore combines higher output with a broader domestic manufacturing base.
Higher Localization Targets Automotive Supply Chain
The project is expected to reduce the share of imported materials used in production from 90% to 40%. This localization effort is intended to increase the domestic content of turbocharger manufacturing while reducing reliance on imported inputs. The facility will serve customers including Avtodiesel (YaMZ), Tutaev Engine Plant, and Transmashholding, supporting applications across commercial vehicles, trucks, and agricultural machinery. The company also supplies turbochargers to the Minsk Motor Plant in Belarus. The combination of expanded capacity and localized component manufacturing is expected to strengthen Turbokomplekt's role within the regional automotive components supply chain.
