Subros Advances Kharkhoda Plant Construction
Subros Kharkhoda Plant has reached an advanced stage of construction in Haryana, according to an investor update from Subros Limited. The company expects production, or SOP, to begin in Q3 FY2027, ending in December. Once fully ramped up, Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the facility are expected to provide combined capacity of approximately 950 thousand units. The planned capacity is aligned with Maruti Suzuki’s expansion plans in North India and is expected to strengthen Subros’ manufacturing capability in the region as vehicle production requirements increase.
Gujarat Facility Targets Compressor Manufacturing
Alongside the Kharkhoda development, Subros has initiated a second greenfield project at Karsanpura in Gujarat. The facility will focus on compressor manufacturing for electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and internal-combustion-engine applications. The project will complement Subros’ technology collaboration with Denso Corporation and Toyota Industries Corporation of Japan for local production of electric compressors. The expansion therefore covers multiple propulsion technologies while supporting the company’s efforts to establish localized compressor manufacturing capabilities for evolving automotive applications in India.
Maruti E-Compressor Programme Follows Three-Phase SOP
For its e-compressor programme with Maruti Suzuki, Subros has outlined a three-phase SOP schedule covering multiple production milestones. The first phase is planned for November 2027, followed by the second phase in February 2028. The third phase is scheduled for Q1 FY2029. The phased approach indicates a planned progression in production deployment rather than a single launch point. Together with the Kharkhoda and Karsanpura projects, these programmes represent Subros’ ongoing expansion across conventional and electrified vehicle compressor applications, including EV and hybrid platforms.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Subros expected to start production at its Kharkhoda plant?
Subros expects production at the Kharkhoda facility to begin in Q3 FY2027, with the plant being developed in phases to support planned capacity expansion in Haryana. Phase 1 and Phase 2 together are expected to provide approximately 950 thousand units of capacity once fully ramped up. The facility is intended to support Maruti Suzuki’s North India expansion plans. Subros is also developing a separate greenfield compressor manufacturing facility at Karsanpura in Gujarat, covering EV, hybrid and ICE applications and complementing its electric-compressor technology collaboration.
