Scania Introduces New Super Range Coaches For Brazil
Scania introduced its new Scania Super range coaches for the Brazilian market on July 29 ahead of Lat.Bus 2026, where the lineup will make its public debut. The new platform brings improvements to the powertrain and electronic architecture while creating a foundation that will gradually replace the current generation through the end of 2027. The launch represents a major update for Scania’s coach portfolio in Brazil, combining efficiency improvements, advanced safety features, and production localization efforts.
The Super range is available with 11-liter and 13-liter engines delivering power outputs from 350 hp to 500 hp. The platform introduces a new 14-speed transmission and a new axle system supporting 4×2, 6×2, and 8×2 configurations. According to Scania, the updated architecture achieves up to 8% lower fuel consumption compared with the current generation. The returning 11-liter engine further improves energy efficiency by providing an additional 2% reduction in fuel usage, helping operators reduce operating costs.
For enhanced vehicle protection and driver assistance, the Super range includes an ADAS package and a digital instrument panel. These technologies support safer coach operations by improving driver awareness and enabling advanced monitoring capabilities. The integration of electronic architecture upgrades also allows the platform to support future developments in connected and intelligent commercial vehicles while maintaining the operational requirements of long-distance passenger transport applications.
Scania invested BRL 120 million to localize production of the Super range at its Sao Bernardo do Campo plant in Sao Paulo. The investment supports production line upgrades, engineering activities, research and development, and supplier development initiatives. The localization program forms part of the company’s broader BRL 2 billion investment plan covering 2025 through 2028, strengthening manufacturing capabilities and supply chain readiness for future commercial vehicle production.
