Nissan Motor India has started exporting its latest SUV, the Tekton, marking the beginning of the model’s international rollout. The company has initially dispatched 1,300 units to South Africa, Nepal, and Bhutan. The vehicle is positioned as a sister model to the Renault Duster and is being introduced in these three markets as the first phase of its overseas expansion. Nissan Reports August 2026 Sales Performance

Nissan Motor India dispatched 9,350 units across August 2026, representing a 2% decline from the 9,541 units recorded during the same month in 2025. Despite the modest overall decrease, the company delivered a substantial improvement in domestic wholesales, which climbed 147% year over year to 3,426 units from 1,384 units. Nissan attributed the domestic increase to the rollout of the Tekton in the Indian market, supported by continued demand for its existing SUV portfolio. International export dispatches across all models totaled 5,924 units during the month.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The response to the Nissan Tekton has been encouraging and has contributed to a strong domestic wholesale performance in August. The company’s August results therefore reflect two different trends: a sharp increase in domestic wholesales alongside a small decline in total dispatches compared with the previous year. The initial overseas shipments also establish a foundation for expanding the Tekton’s presence beyond India. As production scales up, Nissan plans to increase dispatches and add further international markets to the model’s export footprint.
