Mercedes-Benz integrates around 49 kg of recycled thermoplastics into the electric C-Class. Recycled materials are used in several components, including the frunk tub with 50% recycled content, wheel arch trims with 93%, jacking points with 100%, bumper base with 83%, and seat cover fabrics with 34% or 50%. These applications demonstrate how recycled materials can be incorporated into different vehicle systems while meeting durability and quality expectations.
Renewable energy improves manufacturing efficiency
The electric C-Class is manufactured at the Hungary based Kecskemet plant, where solar power has a total capacity of 42.3 MWp and supplies around 25% of the site's annual electricity requirements. A new paint shop reduces energy consumption by approximately 20% and carbon emissions by around 80%. The facility improvements also enhance water efficiency and reduce waste during vehicle production processes.
Vegan interior option expands sustainable features
Mercedes-Benz also provides a vegan interior option for the new electric C-Class, certified by The Vegan Society.
