- Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2026 gains Euro 7 powertrains.
- Plug-in hybrids deliver up to 395 hp.
Mercedes-Benz Updates C-Class Powertrain Lineup
On August 17, Mercedes-Benz announced updates to the C-Class Sedan and C-Class Estate, expanding the range across gasoline, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The updated models use engines designed to comply with future Euro 7 emissions standards while also receiving chassis improvements aimed at enhancing handling without compromising long-distance comfort. Four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines are paired with second-generation integrated starter-generators, known as ISG 2.0, which can provide up to 17 kW of additional power and 205 Nm of extra torque. Orders for all engine versions open on August 18, 2026.
New Gasoline and Diesel Engine Technologies
The 2.0-litre M 254 EVO gasoline engine adds an electric auxiliary compressor to strengthen low-speed torque and is offered in three outputs. The C 200 produces 177 hp and 270 Nm, while the C 250 delivers 218 hp and 320 Nm, and the C 300 develops 258 hp and 400 Nm. The OM 654 EVO diesel engine is available with 163 hp or 200 hp and incorporates advanced turbocharging and fuel injection technologies intended to improve performance and efficiency. The diesel powertrain also supports HVO100, B10 and B20 biofuels, expanding its compatibility with alternative fuel options.
Plug-In Hybrid Models Deliver Up To 395 hp
The C 400 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid models combine a four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver up to 395 hp and 650 Nm of combined output. Their 19.53 kWh battery enables an electric driving range of up to 100 km, providing greater flexibility for daily driving while retaining the capability of the combustion engine for longer journeys. Charging capability includes up to 11 kW through AC charging and up to 55 kW using DC fast charging. The combination gives the updated range a stronger electrified offering while maintaining the established C-Class powertrain diversity.
Aerodynamics, Chassis and Design Improvements
The updated C-Class also receives aerodynamic refinements designed to improve efficiency and reduce wind noise. The Sedan achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24, while the Estate records 0.26, with changes to the mirrors, spoilers and airflow management contributing to the improved aerodynamic performance. The revised chassis is intended to sharpen handling while preserving the long-distance comfort expected from the model line. For the first time, the AMG Line Plus package is also available, bringing sportier styling and performance-focused design elements to the updated range. In Germany, prices for the C 200 Sedan start at EUR 41,045 excluding VAT.
