MAN Truck & Bus Restarts CKD Vehicle Production in Algeria

MAN Truck & Bus CKD Production in Algeria has restarted as MAN Truck & Bus announced the renewal of local CKD vehicle assembly with its long-time partner Maghreb Truck Company (MTC) on July 22. The Blida plant in Algeria has the capability to produce up to eight vehicles daily through two assembly lines, supporting both truck and bus chassis manufacturing. The initial production focus will be on MAN TGS trucks in 4x2, 6x4, and 8x4 configurations designed for long-haul transportation requirements.

The Blida facility will gradually support MAN’s objective of assembling around 1,500 vehicles annually in Algeria over the medium term. With this restart, MAN Truck & Bus continues its position as the first European commercial vehicle manufacturer to locally assemble CKD vehicles in the country. MTC currently employs approximately 250 people, including 50 employees specifically involved in CKD production activities at the Blida plant, strengthening local industrial capabilities and supporting employment development.

MAN considers North Africa a growing commercial vehicle market, with demand increasing from construction, infrastructure, and logistics sectors. The company plans to expand regional production capabilities to address future market requirements while maintaining global quality standards. The restart of CKD operations also includes investments in manufacturing facilities, production processes, and employee training programs.
