JTEKT Corporation announced on August 25 that it had developed the JTEKT G5 Series large CNC cylindrical grinder and will launch the machine on October 26. The grinder provides a maximum distance between centers of 4,000 mm and supports workpieces weighing up to 1,500 kg between centers. The machine is designed for long, heavy workpieces, including rolls used in steelmaking, battery production, and papermaking, along with components used in machine tools, construction equipment, and industrial machinery.

Higher-Output Spindle Supports Heavy Grinding

The G5 Series uses a higher-output grinding-wheel spindle motor to shorten grinding time for long and heavy workpieces. JTEKT combines a STAT BEARING fluid bearing on the grinding-wheel spindle with precision hand-scraped feed slides to support both long service life and high-precision machining. This configuration is intended to maintain machining accuracy while handling the demanding requirements associated with large workpieces and extended grinding operations across industrial applications.

Automation Packages Improve Machining Consistency

JTEKT offers two automation packages for the G5 Series that enable high-precision machining without relying on the expertise of experienced operators. Automation Package A automates work-rest adjustment, measurement, and profile compensation, while also supporting measurement of stepped workpieces. Automation Package B provides stable machining through real-time diameter measurement and feedback compensation during machining, combined with automatic work-rest positioning that follows workpiece deflection. Together, the packages address different aspects of automated precision control.

G5 Completes JTEKT's CNC Grinder Lineup

The G5 Series represents the large model in JTEKT's CNC cylindrical grinder range, completing a lineup that also includes the compact G1 Series and medium-sized G3 Series.
