HI-LEX Plans JPY 1.2 Billion Kyushu Plant Investment
HI-LEX Corporation announced on September 4 that it will invest approximately JPY 1.2 billion in the Kyushu Plant of HI-LEX ACT Co Ltd in Miyako-machi, Fukuoka Prefecture. The investment follows the company’s receipt of its first order in Japan for door module products. Production is scheduled to begin in December 2028, marking an important step in the company’s effort to establish and expand domestic door module manufacturing capabilities. The project will strengthen the Kyushu Plant’s production infrastructure while providing a foundation for HI-LEX Corporation to expand its domestic automotive component business.
Kyushu Plant to Add Mass-Production Equipment
Under the investment plan, HI-LEX ACT will expand the existing plant building and install the equipment required for mass production. The company will also relocate a large-scale plastic injection molding machine from the HI-LEX Group’s Spain plant, which ceased operations in April 2026, to the Kyushu Plant. This equipment will support in-house manufacturing of large plastic module plates, allowing the facility to strengthen its production capabilities and improve control over an important component of the door module manufacturing process. The expansion therefore combines additional plant capacity with the reuse of existing group manufacturing equipment.
Door Modules Support Automotive Manufacturing Efficiency
A door module is a pre-assembled unit that integrates multiple components, including a window regulator, into a single assembly. For automakers, this approach can improve manufacturing efficiency, simplify vehicle assembly processes, and support greater consistency in product quality. HI-LEX has built mass-production experience in the door module business across South Korea, North America, Europe, and China. The new order in Japan is intended to provide a foothold for expanding the company’s domestic business. HI-LEX ultimately aims to use this opportunity to develop its position as a comprehensive door system supplier.
