Geely Auto Recalls 92,915 Vehicles Over LiDAR Defect
Geely Auto LiDAR Recall covers 92,915 vehicles across two separate recall plans filed with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), with both actions taking effect on August 24. The recalls concern LiDAR units supplied with a process-related defect that may damage an internal power IC. Depending on the affected vehicle, the fault can cause driver assistance functions to shut down or fail to identify unusual objects correctly. Geely Auto will replace the affected LiDAR units at no cost, while using cloud-based diagnostics to identify potentially affected vehicles before customers are contacted.
Geely Galaxy M9 Recall Covers 18,878 Vehicles
The first recall involves 18,878 Geely Galaxy M9 vehicles produced between July 20 and October 26, 2025. The Galaxy M9 is a large plug-in hybrid SUV and one of the flagship models within the Geely Galaxy brand. For these vehicles, the LiDAR defect could cause driver assistance functions to exit unexpectedly or prevent them from activating. The second recall covers 74,037 Lynk & Co 900, Lynk & Co 10 EM-P, Lynk & Co 07 and Lynk & Co 08 vehicles manufactured between January 8 and December 10, 2025. Their affected systems may not adequately identify, warn about or respond to unusual objects after assisted driving is engaged.
Supplier Process Variation Linked To LiDAR Defect
According to the recall announcement, supplier process variation may have damaged the power IC inside the LiDAR unit. Geely plans to replace the affected units free of charge and use a cloud platform to monitor early diagnostic signals. Vehicles identified as potentially at risk can therefore be flagged in advance, allowing customer service teams to invite owners to visit stores for the repair. Owners who have already received a replacement LiDAR unit will not need another replacement under the new recall action. The approach combines component replacement with proactive diagnostic screening to identify vehicles requiring attention.
Earlier LiDAR Warnings Were Reported By Owners
The recall follows earlier reports from several Chinese media outlets in mid-August, when owners of vehicles including the Lynk & Co 900 and Lynk & Co 10 reported repeated dashboard warnings such as front LiDAR malfunction and assisted driving speed limited. A Lynk & Co insider said on August 12 that the company was working with its supplier to determine the cause. The timing adds pressure to Lynk & Co because the brand delivered 16,382 vehicles in July, a 40% year-on-year decline and its fourth consecutive month of double-digit declines.
Lynk & Co Deliveries Decline In 2026
Lynk & Co sold 160,597 vehicles during the first seven months of the year, down 11% from the same period a year earlier and below 40% of its 400,000-unit annual target. By comparison, sister brand Zeekr Group reported July sales of 35,837 vehicles, an increase of 111%. Lynk & Co is now part of Zeekr Group and is positioned in the mid-to-high-end sporty segment. The latest action is also the second recall filed by Geely on the same day, following a separate recall covering 92,658 Zeekr 007 and Zeekr X vehicles over risks involving emergency mechanical door release devices.
Lynk & Co Brand Monthly Deliveries, 2024-2026
The monthly delivery figures show that Lynk & Co’s sales momentum weakened during 2026 after stronger results across much of 2025. Deliveries reached 30,077 vehicles in January 2025 and peaked at 40,213 in October before declining toward the end of that year. In 2026, monthly deliveries fell from 28,877 in January to 16,382 in July. The July result represents the lowest monthly figure shown for the 2026 period and provides additional context for the brand’s current commercial pressure.

Geely Faces Multiple Recall Actions
The latest LiDAR action adds to a broader recall activity involving Geely-related brands. The group previously announced a recall covering 92,658 Zeekr 007 and Zeekr X vehicles because of risks associated with their emergency mechanical door release devices. On the same day, Chinese automakers filed recalls covering more than 7 million vehicles, with most of those actions reportedly connected to emergency mechanical door release devices. For Geely, the LiDAR recalls therefore add a separate technology-related quality issue affecting driver assistance systems and advanced sensing hardware across several newer vehicle models.
