- BYD Thailand Deliveries Surpass 130,000 Units marks major milestone.
- Local production expansion supports future electric mobility growth.
BYD reached another significant milestone in Southeast Asia after cumulative vehicle deliveries in Thailand exceeded 130,000 units. The achievement was announced during an event held in Bangkok on July 12, 2026, which also celebrated the second anniversary of the company's Rayong manufacturing facility. The factory officially started production on July 4, 2024, and has become an important part of BYD's regional manufacturing strategy in Thailand, supporting local vehicle production and strengthening the country's growing new energy vehicle industry.
Rayong Factory Continues Expanding Local Manufacturing
The Rayong production facility is designed to manufacture up to 150,000 vehicles annually. The plant currently assembles five models comprising the BYD Dolphin, BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal 5 DM-i, BYD SEALION 5 DM-i, and BYD SEALION 6 DM-i. According to BYD, approximately 50% of the components used in locally assembled vehicles are sourced domestically. The facility also employs 5,234 workers, with around 94% of its workforce made up of Thai nationals, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to local employment and supply chain development.
BYD Thailand Sales Performance and 2026 Target
Rever Automotive, the official distributor for BYD in Thailand, reported sales of approximately 30,000 vehicles during the first half of 2026. This compares with total annual sales of 45,000 units recorded during 2025. Despite continued market challenges caused by broader economic conditions, elevated household debt levels, and intense pricing competition across the automotive sector, the distributor continues to target vehicle sales of 70,000 units by the end of 2026.
