BYD Qin MAX Launches With EV And Plug-In Hybrid Powertrains
On August 13, BYD Company Limited (BYD) announced the official launch of the all-new BYD Qin MAX mid-size sedan in China. Available with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, the model is offered in nine variants priced from CNY 99,900 to CNY 143,900. The sedan measures 4,866 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. The launch expands BYD’s mid-size sedan offering across both EV and plug-in hybrid configurations, combining multiple powertrain choices with different performance, battery capacity, driving-range and intelligent-vehicle specifications.
Qin MAX EV Offers Up To 630 Km CLTC Range
The Qin MAX EV is offered in five rear-wheel-drive variants using a single permanent magnet synchronous motor with maximum power outputs of 120 kW or 240 kW. Depending on configuration, top speed is 170 km/h or 190 km/h, while 0–100 km/h acceleration takes 9.6 seconds or 5.9 seconds. The EV versions use 52.9 kWh or 64.3 kWh second-generation Blade Batteries, delivering CLTC EV-mode ranges of 530 km or 630 km. The model also supports flash charging, allowing charging from 10% to 70% state of charge in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
Qin MAX DM-i Combines Hybrid Efficiency With Long Range
The Qin MAX DM-i is available in four front-wheel-drive variants and combines a plug-in hybrid-dedicated 1.5L high-efficiency engine, an Electric Hybrid System (EHS), and a single permanent magnet synchronous motor. The engine produces a maximum 74 kW and peak torque of 126 Nm, while the motor delivers up to 175 kW. The system enables a top speed of 185 km/h and 0–100 km/h acceleration in 7.5 seconds. Battery capacities are 25.3 kWh or 34.3 kWh, supporting CLTC EV-mode ranges of 230 km or 320 km. Some variants provide a combined range of up to 2,370 km, while charge-sustaining fuel consumption is 2.59/2.75 L per 100 km under NEDC conditions.
Intelligent Cockpit Adds Connected Vehicle Features
Charging performance also varies across the Qin MAX DM-i range, with fast charging from 30% to 80% state of charge taking 20 or 18 minutes, depending on battery configuration. Across the lineup, BYD Company Limited equips the sedan with the DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit as standard, while selected variants can receive the DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit with the Didi Xia Super AI Agent. Additional features on selected versions include a Windshield Head-Up Display and four-zone voice interaction, extending the model’s digital cockpit capabilities and adding greater emphasis on connected in-vehicle functionality.
God’s Eye Systems Expand Driver Assistance Capabilities
Driver assistance is another major differentiator across the Qin MAX range. Select variants are equipped with the God’s Eye C driver assistance system, which supports Highway Navigation on Autopilot (HNOA), Driver Fatigue Monitoring (DFM), and Automated Parking Assist (APA). An optional God’s Eye B LiDAR-equipped driving assistance system is also available on selected variants, adding functions such as City Navigation on Autopilot (CNOA) and Traffic Light Alert (TLA). The combination of EV and plug-in hybrid powertrains, fast charging, connected cockpit functions and increasingly advanced driver assistance positions the sedan as a technology-focused mid-size offering in China.
