Quick Takeaways
  • Bajaj Pulsar 125 and 150 launch expands lineup.
  • Ten-model refresh targets festive-season motorcycle demand.

Bajaj Auto has launched the new Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150 in Pune at starting ex-showroom prices of ₹92,990 and ₹1,15,233, respectively, as the company accelerates a motorcycle portfolio refresh expected to bring 10 new or updated models to market before the festive season. The launch follows the Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS introductions on August 7 and represents the second product launch in the six-week rollout outlined during Bajaj Auto’s Q1 FY27 analyst call. The company has indicated that two of the 10 models will be all-new Pulsars, while the remaining products will be new variants or upgrades.

Pulsar Portfolio Takes Shape

Sumeet Narang, President, Marketing, Bajaj Auto, described the new Pulsar 125 and 150 as the second launch in the company’s current product journey. He said, “Our 150 and 125 are the second launch in this journey,” adding, “We will meet you soon again. There’s a lot of stuff that we will still be coming up with in the coming days.” The comments reinforce Bajaj Auto’s plan to maintain a rapid product cadence through the upcoming festive period, with additional motorcycles and refreshed variants expected as the company continues updating its portfolio.

The latest products arrive as the Pulsar nameplate remains one of India’s largest-selling motorcycle ranges, although July dispatches declined from the previous year. According to AutoPunditz, Pulsar recorded 66,156 units in July, down 17% from 79,817 units a year earlier, placing the range third in the motorcycle sales chart. At the same time, Bajaj Auto’s sports motorcycle segment expanded about 50% year over year during the April-June quarter, with Pulsar, Avenger and Dominar delivering double-digit growth. The company has also said upgrades are planned across its 125-160cc motorcycle range.

Bajaj Auto is organizing the refreshed Pulsar range around three distinct platforms designed for different customers and riding requirements. Narang described these as the original Pulsar, the N and the NS platforms, giving the portfolio a clearer structure as the company introduces new models and upgrades. This platform strategy is intended to differentiate products within the 125-160cc segment while allowing Bajaj Auto to refresh multiple motorcycles without relying on a single architecture or customer proposition. The latest launches therefore form part of a broader portfolio strategy rather than isolated model updates.

Pulsar 125, 150 Specifications and Features

The new Pulsar 125 and 150 feature an all-new diamond-type frame in which the engine acts as a stressed member, replacing the outgoing double-cradle-type architecture. Both motorcycles receive a rear monoshock, revised styling, LED lighting and a new gearbox. The Pulsar 150 produces 14 PS, while the Pulsar 125 develops 12 PS, with power-to-weight ratios improved to 100 PS/tonne and 93 PS/tonne, respectively. Both models also offer three ride modes, Crawl Technology and a five-inch TFT display with Google Maps on higher variants, expanding the technology content available in this motorcycle range.

Pricing varies by variant, with the Pulsar 150 reaching up to ₹1.23 lakh and the Pulsar 125 reaching up to ₹1.04 lakh. The revised architecture, updated equipment and broader electronic features position the two motorcycles as important upgrades within Bajaj Auto’s core 125-150cc portfolio. The launch also gives the company additional scope to address different buyer preferences through variant-level differentiation while retaining the familiar Pulsar nameplate. The products are part of the company’s wider effort to update its motorcycle lineup ahead of the festive season, when demand typically becomes an important consideration for manufacturers and dealers.

Bajaj Auto’s Manufacturing Capacity Expansion Plans

The launches also come ahead of Bajaj Auto’s planned manufacturing capacity expansion, which is expected to increase annual capacity from about 7.2 million vehicles to more than 9 million. The company has said the additional capacity will support demand across electric vehicles, premium motorcycles, exports and selected ICE products. Bajaj Auto is evaluating both a brownfield expansion and a greenfield facility, but the location and investment have not yet been finalized. The company has also not announced dispatch dates for the new Pulsar 125 and 150, leaving the timing of retail availability subject to further confirmation.
