Avatr 07L enters China's competitive electric SUV segment
Avatr Technology announced the launch of the Avatr 07L, a large 5-seat electric SUV designed for family buyers in China's highly competitive market. The model will officially launch at an event in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on August 8. Pre-sales started on July 17, with Max+ battery electric vehicle and Ultra tri-motor battery electric vehicle variants priced at 249,900 yuan and 279,900 yuan respectively. The vehicle targets the 250,000-yuan to 300,000-yuan electric SUV category alongside models including the Xiaomi YU7.
Dimensions and performance capabilities
The family-oriented SUV measures 4,910 millimeters in length, 1,980 millimeters in width and 1,650 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 2,990 millimeters. Compared with the existing Avatr 07, the new model is 85 millimeters longer and provides an additional 50 millimeters of wheelbase extension. These improvements create more rear-seat comfort and increased cargo space. The Max+ BEV variant uses a high-performance rear electric motor producing up to 305 kilowatts, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds.
Battery technology and electric driving range
The Max+ BEV variant is equipped with an 89.33-kWh CATL Shenxing 5C fast-charging battery supplied by CATL. The vehicle delivers a CLTC range of 725 kilometers, supporting long-distance electric mobility requirements. The Ultra version features a tri-motor distributed all-wheel-drive system that improves performance, reducing the 0-to-100-km/h acceleration time to 3.7 seconds. This variant offers a CLTC range of 650 kilometers while focusing on higher performance requirements within the premium electric SUV segment.
Advanced driver assistance and LiDAR integration
Smart driving technology is one of the major highlights of the new SUV. The vehicle is among the first models equipped with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 driver-assistance system and a roof-mounted 896-channel LiDAR sensor. The LiDAR system is claimed to be the highest-specification LiDAR currently available in a mass-produced vehicle and can detect an object 14 centimeters high from a distance of 120 meters. The vehicle supports roaming cruise assist functionality and allows drivers to activate NCA assisted driving with one tap on any road without setting a navigation route.
Market positioning and company expansion strategy
The electric SUV will compete in the highly contested 250,000-yuan to 300,000-yuan segment in China, where family buyers are increasingly evaluating advanced technology features and intelligent driving capabilities. The existing Avatr 07 will continue sales after adjustments to its variant lineup. The earlier model was introduced in September 2024 and became the brand's first vehicle offering both battery electric vehicle and extended-range electric vehicle options. The latest launch supports the company's broader growth strategy while it continues preparations for a Hong Kong listing.
