On August 7, India Resurgence Fund (IndiaRF), promoted by Piramal Finance and Bain Capital, acquired a majority stake in Fine Edge Engineering Private Limited, which houses the iron casting and machining business of Ashok Iron Works and its related entities. Founded in 1974, Ashok Iron Works operates four foundries with a combined capacity of 144,000 tonnes per annum and seven machine shops capable of producing 600 thousand parts annually at its Belagavi, Karnataka facilities.

The company manufactures engine blocks, engine heads and transmission housings weighing between 20 kg and 5,000 kg, including machined engine blocks for one- to 18-cylinder engines, serving industrial engine, farm equipment and automotive customers. IndiaRF said it will support capacity expansion, research and development, new product development and operational improvements. The investment therefore provides a platform for the business to expand its manufacturing capabilities while strengthening product development and operational performance across its existing industrial engine, farm equipment and automotive customer segments in India.
